Joe Lumley didn't even have to make a save because CR7 pulled his effort wide of the target.








Ronaldo turned and looked at the penalty spot in disgust after putting his effort wide of the post, possibly hoping for something to save his blushes.










 


With the carpet-like Old Trafford field remaining spotless and the score still 0-0, he could only blame himself.








Ronaldo's failure was the fourth time in his career that he has failed to score a penalty for United, despite his reputation for being ice-cold from the spot.








In 2006, 2007, and 2008, he failed to score from 12 yards against Wigan, West Ham, and Barcelona, respectively.
