ere the the Premier League's biggest spenders during the summer transfer window, splashing just over £250million on eight new signings before sacking Thomas Tuchel earlier this week. His replacement Potter was appointed on Thursday and is reportedly already looking to strengthen his squad when the window re-opens in January.



According to Bild reporter Christian Falk, Chelsea are ready to go back in for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol in the new year, having failed in their attempts to sign him in the final days of the summer window.




Chelsea had a £77million bid rejected by the Bundesliga side, with the proposal also including a clause allowing Gvardiol to remain on loan at Leipzig until next summer.


However, Leipzig rebuffed Chelsea's approaches and instead tied down the Croatia international to a new five-year deal through until the summer of 2027.
