Philippe Coutinho joins Aston Villa on loan deal until end of the season

 

At Villa Park, the Brazilian is reunited with his former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, four years after leaving Anfield for the Nou Camp in a £142 million transfer.

Coutinho played with Gerrard for the final two-and-a-half seasons of his Liverpool career, appearing 201 times for the Reds and scoring 54 goals in the process.

The 29-year-old has struggled to adjust to life in Barcelona since leaving Merseyside in January 2018 for a then-record fee for Liverpool. Despite a promising start, he has struggled to settle in.
