Saturday’s game appeared to be a breaking point, as Tuchel hauled off Alonso at half time after questioning his effort in tracking back.

That’s been widely reported, but today the Sun have added some interesting new details.

They say that Alonso “accepts the manager’s right to take him off” – that’s promising, and also that the left back “wants to play in tomorrow’s game at Leeds to put the incident behind them.”

We’re not sure Tuchel would be using him if he had other options, but given Alonso is the best we can do at the moment, it appears he will get his wish, and the uneasy alliance will continue
