Chelsea have first option on talented defender following England debut

Marc Guehi has had a fantastic season at Crystal Palace since joining from Chelsea this summer, and his international debut for England this week highlighted that. 

The centre back came via Chelsea's youth system, but decided last summer that a permanent move would be preferable to another loan. 

We're sure the Chelsea hierarchy would have preferred to keep him — his pedigree is undeniable – but they also realized they couldn't stop him. 

They did, however, manage to hedge their bets a little against the future. According to Tom Barclay of GiveMeSport, the Blues have a first option clause on Guehi, which means Palace will accept any Chelsea bid that matches one from another club.
